Senior Director of Marketing and Sales Development

Reports to:  Chief Revenue Officer
Location: Philadelphia, PA area
Travel Requirements: 10% for conferences and company meetings

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the CRO, the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales Development will be a player-coach, a brilliant strategist, and a proven executor. The position is responsible for all strategy, development,  and execution of marketing activities for TargetX, which includes all stages of the marketing funnel from demand generation, content strategy, conferences and trade shows, TargetX’s annual users conference, and sales development. This is a senior management position that oversees TargetX’s core marketing and sales development teams.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Chief Revenue Officer to set marketing and pipeline goals, strategies, and budgets

  • Plan, provide leadership, and measure the success of all marketing and sales development activities in the department

  • Develop marketing programs, including webinars, online demos, gated content, etc. to capture new leads and to support existing customers.

  • Lead the sales development representatives (SDR) team to prioritize, qualify and score leads, and run SDR prospecting programs.

  • Lead, mentor and develop the marketing and SDR team. Recruit and train new team members.

  • Establish marketing data management processes and report and manage all company marketing metrics, from top of funnel to sales opportunities 

  • Provide strategic guidance for marketing/sales efforts related to competitor analysis/differentiation, messaging and value propositions.

  • Coordinate and proactively communicate closely with other Sales, Product, and IT team members to ensure cross-collaboration, information sharing, campaign organization/efficiency, and improved quality deliverables.

Experience Required and Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Quantitative and creative leader who puts the customer in the middle of everything. Someone obsessed with metrics, data and performance; able to flex and be a team player.

  • Expertise in marketing automation and marketing operations – email campaigns, landing page development, lead nurturing, etc. (certification from Hubspot Academy a huge plus)

  • Demonstrated track record of development and execution of innovative strategies to meet short- and long-term objectives.

  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion effectively in a high-energy company environment. Must be able to “roll up your sleeves” and jump from strategic to tactical. 

  • Creative thinker who can develop new programs that drive new pipeline.

  • Deep analytical mind who obsessively tracks and improves KPIs.

  • Ability to inspire team members to push boundaries, discover new approaches, test new tools, and take calculated risks to produce high-impact results.

  • Forward thinking, growth-minded collaborative partner with strong communication skills, accountability, and responsiveness.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, English, or similar major from an accredited college or university

  • At least 10 years of relevant marketing experience, with experience in demand generation for SaaS products

  • Knowledge of sales development strategies and experience managing or partnering with sales development functions 

  • Relevant experience in or knowledge of higher education admissions a huge plus
